This was a QUICK and extremely HOT trip. I knew we were pushing out luck, trying to camp in June, but Pinetop is typically 20 degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer. Cue random, record breaking HEAT WAVE. Good thing we were only there for a couple days.
The campground was so so. We had noisy neighbors and it was pretty crowded and not much to look at, but our spot was pretty nice, considering all that. We ate well on our new grill and took a walk across the road to the lake at sunset. There was a little playground at the campground with swings – Owen enjoyed that. I was too hot and angsty to take many good camera photos… except a couple.
The only reason we were there was for my friend’s wedding. So Saturday was spent hosing ourselves off to stay cool until it was time to get ready to leave for the festivities. We ended up getting ready and leaving super early to walk the aisles of Wal-Mart for air conditioning. We had a fun time at the wedding and thankfully it had cooled off by the time we got back to camp.
I don’t think we’ve ever been more motivated to pack up on Sunday morning. I know, kind of a bummer trip.
